When I was trying to install XSquare 3.8.15 on a clean Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard machine (in the “Orchestrator Only” mode) the installation of .NET Framework 3.5 dependency has failed.
The installation wizard has been ran in an automatic mode, so to get more information about the error we can try installing .NET 3.5 from Advanced mode.
According to the message, the installer is trying to install a feature called ‘netfx3’ that apparently doesn’t exist in this OS version. Let’s get the list of all features that we do have available and look for those that contain “Net” in their name:
dism.exe /online /get-features | findstr /r /c:”Net”
Looks like the ‘NetFx3’, which we can see in search results, is spelt in a slightly different way from ‘netfx3’ – that feature name has upper-case letters. Let’s try installing that particular feature manually:
dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFx3
Now we can continue the installation in automatic mode… until we get another error:
